The Beginners Guide of Using XinFin’s Apothem Network / Sandbox Network to test blockchain applications.
Before a project launches on the XinFin blockchain (or before changes are made to the blockchain itself), a version is deployed to a XinFin Apothem Test Network (“testnet”), which simulates XinFIn Network — this gives developers, the community, and you a chance to kick the tires before real assets are involved.
XDC and XRC-20 tokens on a testnet are easy to obtain, and carry no real-world value — still, it can be fun to own 10,000 XDC or a trillion XRC-20 tokens on a test net.
Connecting to an Apothem testnet
XinFin addresses & private keys that work on XinFin Network, work on each testnet — be extremely careful not to send XDC or XRC-20 tokens on the XinFin main-net to a testnet address, or you will lose your assets.
Compound recommends creating a new wallet specifically for use on testnets before proceeding; you’ll never accidentally send XDC if you don’t have XDC.
XDCPay
XDCPay allows users to store and manage account keys, broadcast transactions, send and receive XDC-based cryptocurrencies and tokens, and securely connect to decentralized applications through a compatible web browser.
Using XDCPay to send XDC and XRC-20 tokens on an Apothem testnet is straightforward; in the top-left of XDCPay, you can select a network.
Switch from the Main XinFin Network to Apothem testnet and you should see your balances and transaction history update, to reflect the network you’ve selected.
Now, when you create a transaction using XDCPay, it will be transmitted to the network you’ve selected.
XinFin Apothem Web Wallet similarly allows you to select an alternate network, in the top right of the screen. When you do so, all transactions and contract calls are conducted on the network that you’ve chosen.
Acquiring XDC
Now it’s time to load up your new account with Faucet XDC. on the faucet you just need to paste your XDC address and click on get 1000 XDC your will receive 1000 XDC tokens on the specific address.
After receiving the 1000 XDC tokens you can test the XinFin Network by using XinFin Tools. Every transaction, smart contract deployment or network interaction required very small XDC as Gas fees.
